The Shine on Critique! project is seeking applicants for a residency in Finland. The application period is open until September 26.

The residency is aimed at critics working with dance or performing arts. The residencies have been set up to promote the professional skills and the networking of critics.

The residency will be held during Moving in November dance festival (Helsinki) in November. The preferred dates for critic to stay are from 4th to 12th of November, 2022. The festival program will be out in September.

You can apply for a residency if you are a critic or art journalist. The project will reserve and pay for the chosen critics accommodation. Residents must reserve the travel tickets to their destination themselves with funding received from the project. In addition to travel and accommodation costs, the project offers a residency grant of 400 euros. Applicants from the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) and Ukraine will be prioritizated.

The resident is expected to attend the destination event. The program may also include informal meetings or colloquies. The program for each residency will be worked out with the chosen critic, but there will also be free time for the residents to get acquainted with their destination as well as for independent work.

The chosen critic is expected to write an entry for the project’s blog. It is not required that the critic writes about the exhibitions or performances experienced in connection with the residency in any other media.
